Membership

Members are elected to the National Academy of Engineering and Sciences in recognition of their distinguished and continuing achievements in original research. Membership is a widely accepted mark of excellence in science and is considered one of the highest honors that a scientist can receive.
Ordinary members
Our ordinary members are elected for their outstanding achievements in science, arts, and governance. Ordinary members are natural persons who have successfully completed an academic education and who enjoy exceptional standing in society as a result of work performed, publications or for comparable reasons.
Honorary members
Every natural person can be elected as honorary member on grounds of outstanding scientific work.
Honors
The following honours can be awarded to persons for special services: Protector, Honorary Senator, and Honorary President.
Become a Member

To become a member of the National Academy of Engineering and Science, please follow the guidelines outlined below:

1. Ensure international peer recognition: The general criterion for admission is international peer recognition. Please refer to the Nomination Form for detailed information on the nomination process.

2. Nomination eligibility: Only Fellows of the National Academy of Engineering and Science have the privilege of nominating potential new members. Please ensure that the nominator is a Fellow of the National Academy of Engineering and Science.

3. Submitting the required documents

4. Nomination timeline: Nominations can be submitted at any time throughout the year to the Head of Division. However, the nomination should arrive in due time (at least one month prior to the voting month). This will allow the Committee to thoroughly examine the nominations before they are presented for voting by the General Board.
